This is a timelapse painting of three snowman Christmas ornaments. This is a quick video of me painting a tiny snowman original painting. This is a Christmas ornament on a small canvas. I will be teaching this class about painting a snowman in person at the Sherwood Center For the Arts in Oregon on November 27th 2023 and painting a winter landscape December 1st 2023. Process of creating a painting
Before beginning to create a painting I take pictures or visit the place I plan to paint. I then gessoe the canvas or board and I paint a sketch in acrylic paint. In places requiring texture I will paint thicker acrylic paint. When the sketch is dry I varnish in clear gesso or repaintable varnish and when it is dry I start small layers of oil paint to add shadow, depth and color. The process of creating an original oil painting may take several months to complete depending on the size. All materials used in each painting are archival quality meaning they will last for many years.
